Japanese Summer Festival
I went with Rachel, Poh Ying, Evelyn and Grace to the japanese summer festival yay! rachel should really take her own camera along yea, instead of twisting my arm to secretly take pictures of cute japanese guys that she spots.
which was like once every 15 seconds. tsk!
the following pictures will be shown in the following order:
call me gay if you're shallow-minded enought to not discern that these pics are rachel's.
Cute guy #1

This guy was at the drink stall selling drinks and beer. Rachel was like "DAMMIT TAKE HIS PICTURE!!!!" when it was high neigh impossible, because it was so crowded with so many people! so she sorta whacked me on my arm until i took a satisfactory picture. blegh.
Cute guy #2

Actually, still the same guy, but closer and in a better angle and view i guess.
Cute guy #3 and #4

she saw them while queuing up and i didn't, so she was like "take their pictures hurry!" while i was going "what? huh? where?"
right, you more or less get the vein in which the rest of the pictures go.
the curly hair one looks like Bae Yong Jun, you reckon?
Cute guy #5

the one rachel was ogling at was the one in the centre, for your information. he was manning i think the dart stall? kinda obvious itsn't it, with the dart board beside him.
Cute guy #6

this was one hard picture to get! we actually, i mean, Rachel actually stalked them all the way from the concourse to inside the fairgrounds. this guy even then was not supposed to be of him, but the pink guy figure behind him. poh ying called them the Japanese F4, because they're that pretty, and better looking.
right, let's move on.
Cute guy #7

another cute guy manniong the drink and beer stalls. seems that all drink and beer stall vendors are cute, with the exception of raphael of course.
Cute guy #8

according to rachel, he looks damn cute and kakkoi, but my photo spoiled everything. but she laughed at this though, and said to keep it. blegh. in case you haven't noticed, he's the same guy in #3 and #4. Bae Yong Jun is beside him.
Cute guy #9

Manning the basketball stall and looking grumpy. geez who'd want to approach his stall with a face like that?
Cute guy #10

Rachel's cute boy whom she was sad that the guy is probably all of 12 years old and she's too old for him. haha this boy is really good looking in the life, and rachel as well as the others were gushing over him.
that's enough pictures of guys. now let's move on! (there will be 11 more pics if i had to show them all)
my pics
random girl

taken while queueing.
random girl with sister

really cute, isn't it. i reckon it might be good enough to go into my portfolio, if only it was clearer and less blur.
siblinghood

isn't that the sweetest thing ever? such a close bond of siblinghood is really rare among locals nowadays. go japanese families!
sunset

nice backdrop for the festival to take place in.
traditional dance

the girl's pretty, isn't she? she's like the typical stereotyped pretty girl in the campus that everyone loves and wants (ever seen WaterBoys 2? She looks exactly like that) and i can imagine her being really pretty when she grows up though.
another litle girl

this was the one i saw while waiting for the shuttle bus, but i didn't take her picture then. this was taken in the fair itself. however the funny thing was, while queuing there's this middle aged woman, local, who was trying hard to be japanese and when she boarded the bus with the little girl, she waved at the girl.
i swear, the girl looked shocked. so was her mum.
taiko drum ensemble

the drum ensenmble, catchy cool and impressive.
i must cut subs short or it'll take forever to post the pics.
nice lanterns

self explanatory title yea.
lantern close up

Asahi is the beer to go!
the mass dance thing

i really liked this section. kids and adults alike go up the stage while the rest dance in a circle around the stage. there then was no boundary between adults and children, and it really was heartwarming to see them laugh and have fun together. how possible is it really now in our society? sigh.
dance pics 2

meh.
cool kid!

makes you want to pinch his cheeks, doesn't he?
exemplerary relationships

as i said, the removal of adult and child boundaries. note: the child and adult are not related. the parents are off stage.
it's a kids' heaven

happiness and elation permeates everyone, and it even warms the heart of people just to see them smile.
Happiness

one of my favourite pictures. there is no spite or malice in her face, and every pain and torment and crises that she has experienced cannot be seen in every lines of her face. this is the power of the festival, of the joy that pervades them all. much more than religion, even.
people should learn from them, really.
originally she had red eyes due to the flash. but thanks to my incredible photoshop skills, no more red-eyes!
friends infected

rachel, grace, evelyn and poh ying joining in the dance.
siblings revisited!

everyone say "awwwww!"
striptease?

rachel and evelyn having...um fun?
